Christopher Moravec is the CTO and founder of dymaptic, an Esri Gold Partner that builds GIS and AI software. He has spent nearly two decades on the software side of GIS, and the last several years building AI into it. Before most folks cared, he was trying to convince people to use LLMs to QC data input, and he built the first AI-powered chatbot in ArcGIS Pro that could help you author Arcade. His position has not moved since then: AI is not a replacement for analysts; it is a tool that makes them faster and frees them to do the thinking that actually requires a human.

He has built AI-assisted GIS workflows, spoken at the Esri Developer Summit, and guest-lectured at universities. He writes a weekly newsletter called Almost Entirely Human at christophermoravec.com, working through what it's really like to build with these tools, including the failure. Especially the failures.

When he isn't writing code or writing about it, he's probably teaching a robot dog to find its way around his workshop.
